Queensland Man has Total Hip Replacement in Thailand
Ronald and his wife Cathy enquired with us at the end of 2015 about Total Hip Replacement surgery. Ronald is 69 and leads an active lifestyle, working in a physically demanding job in Central Queensland. Due to the discomfort he had been relying on strong pain medications for 3 years. He was told by his local orthopaedic surgeon that he required surgery.
Although he had private health insurance, he was not covered for Total Hip Replacement surgery. The estimated cost of $65,000 for surgery in the private hospital system lead them to research their options with SkyGen.
Ronald made the decision to have Total Hip Replacement surgery in Thailand to:
a) Save money
b) Skip the public waiting list
c) Work around private health insurance not covering his surgery
After putting Ronald in touch with some previous patients, SkyGen organised all of his health tests through his GP, remotely coordinated his assessment, and booked all the items of his surgical plan, flights and accommodation – within a couple of weeks, Ronald and Cathy were set to go.
Upon their return, we received the following testimonial from Ronald’s wife, Cathy.
Sorry we have not contacted you sooner. On behalf of my husband Ron and myself we would like to thank you so much for all your help and support. When we decided to have the surgery overseas it was with much apprehension and anticipation. All I can say is that from the moment we were met at the airport the support and information we were given was amazing and did not stop until we landed back in Australia. The hospital and accommodation was amazing and the medical staff were all great.
We would go back if we were in need of other medical procedures. I don’t believe you can print this but by chance I myself ended up in hospital not long after we arrived home. I would not go back to a public hospital here again for anything.
We are happy to talk to future patients that are considering the same thing to let them know of our positive experience
